In the short time Raglan Road has been open, I’ve had two experiences there. The first was a friday evening, or maybe saturday morning, things got a bit hazy
. The size of this pub was the first thing that struck me, it’s huge! I especially enjoyed the traditional irish decor as well as the layout which features three levels of dining, and a large open bar area alongside a stage for the performers. The bartenders were prompt & friendly, and the atmosphere was busy, but calm.
My second experience was this afternoon when I went there for dinner. I ordered the chutney burger which was unlike any burger I’ve had before, but it was fantastic. My girfriend ordered the steak strip salad and soup, which was equally as good. The menu is limited for the next month or two until they have a chance to expand it. Dinner for two along with two pints of Guiness was $40 + tip, which is about average for dining downtown.
The only problem I had with Raglan Road was absence of TVs, which unfortunately can be an issue for me considering St Patrick’s Day always falls during the same weekend as the conference basketball tournaments or the opening round of the NCAA tournament. As fun as it would be to celebrate St Patty’s day at Raglan Road, I think my time might be limited there during March because of this.
In all, I thought it was a great atmosphere, good food, very friendly staff, and a decent price. I look forward to going there sometime when the band and dancers are there.

The worst $40 lunch I ever had, it started of good with a smoked salmon appetizer and then went down hill real fast. Bangers and mash turned out to be roast beef that had been cooking for days that was so dry it was like eating paper, along with some kind of sausage that had also had been cooked way too long and some mashed potatoes which were ok. The wife had Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken was way overcooked an also very dry. The romaine lettuce was in big chunks and had to be chopped up a lot to get it down to bite size pieces. In the bottom of the colander in which it was served in were chunks of some kind of dried meat that defies description and had no taste. This was my first and last stop at Ragland Road.
Hope not all are like Jay Troy’s experience!
ambiance good / food terrible
We stopped in for dinner and drinks on a Monday evening.
The prices were fair, about what you would expect.
The drink menu left quite a bit to be desired. No Mojito, no Cosmos, no martini’s; not up to par. I ordered meal that came with a salad. Evidently dressing is not an option. My entre was hospital bland. There was not a salt and pepper shaker on the table and I had to request them. Salt and pepper really didn’t help salvage it. My wife ordered a chicken Caesar salad. The chicken was over cooked. The edges of the chicken were burnt and what wasn’t charred was dry. Go for the esthetics and beer but eat somewhere else first.
