I did a big update to the Power and Light district tenant list page, so be sure to check it out. Included is a very useful interactive map of the district that highlights who is open or coming soon, along with their location.
I’ve also begun creating individualized pages for each tenant which I hope will contain useful information. So far I’ve added pages for Vinino and Raglan Road. Let me know if there is additional info that you feel should be added to those pages.
In the short time Raglan Road has been open, I’ve had two experiences there. The first was a friday evening, or maybe saturday morning, things got a bit hazy ;). The size of this pub was the first thing that struck me, it’s huge! I especially enjoyed the traditional irish decor as well as the layout which features three levels of dining, and a large open bar area alongside a stage for the performers. The bartenders were prompt & friendly, and the atmosphere was busy, but calm.
My second experience was this afternoon when I went there for dinner. I ordered the chutney burger which was unlike any burger I’ve had before, but it was fantastic. My girfriend ordered the steak strip salad and soup, which was equally as good. The menu is limited for the next month or two until they have a chance to expand it. Dinner for two along with two pints of Guiness was $40 + tip, which is about average for dining downtown.
The only problem I had with Raglan Road was absence of TVs, which unfortunately can be an issue for me considering St Patrick’s Day always falls during the same weekend as the conference basketball tournaments or the opening round of the NCAA tournament. As fun as it would be to celebrate St Patty’s day at Raglan Road, I think my time might be limited there during March because of this.
In all, I thought it was a great atmosphere, good food, very friendly staff, and a decent price. I look forward to going there sometime when the band and dancers are there.
Last night marked the opening for many of the core tenants in the Live! block in Kansas City’s Power & Light district, and here’s a great video that was originally posted in the previous post’s comments, but it absolutely deserves its own post.
